Wissahickon HS Art Media

Welcome to the Art Media community

Art MediaHere we will begin to explore the concepts, processes and materials of contemporary art making and viewing. With an emphasis on exploration and experimentation, Art Media One and Two are classes for beginning and experienced artists alike. All who enter the classroom with an open mind, willingness to work hard, and an interest in learning have the tools necessary for success.

“Postmodernism demands that the audience of art become involved in the discursive process of discerning meaning. This postmodernist view of art means a very different approach to teaching about art than was contained in our previous misconceptions that meaning was given by the high priests—critics, aestheticians, and historians—who were the keepers of the truth or meaning. Instead, meaning is inextricably connected to the tangled and changing web of context to be constructed by the audience. This means that there is no single meaning or truth, but one that is constructed by all who seek to understand art. ” -Ronald Neperud

  1. I love watching people create things from their minds. It is very inspiring to me. To walk around and see all the different types of work is something I love to do. I think that Wissahickon has some pretty creative minds. Seeing all the different types of work shows the personality of the artist. The 2008 art show was amazing, awesome, and something that i love to come to. we have some creative people here at wissahickon. keep up the good work :]
