Proposal:
Something to Do With Paint. On Paper. And Uniqueness.

And a Leap from Innocence

A step from unwavering trust. A spin from skies forever blue. A slide from cute, from naïvety. A skip from summer heat, and sidewalk chalk. A bow to all I learned, and curiosity. A turn from honeysuckle, and denim overalls. A pause for regrets, and to reminisce. And a leap from innocence.
Picture a tarp hung from the ceiling in a room surrounded by glass. Spectators viewing my insides, my childhood, my psyche. Strangers invited to experience and criticize my exhibition of infancy. Caged time travel of nothing but the mind itself. Fourteen pinholes in the tarp let down a constant stream of different vibrant, primary colors of watered-down paint. The only barrier between the child and the rain being the bright blue blanket made of indelible (and unbiodegradable) plastic, the stuff of child’s play. Imagine a blank paper spread flat along the floor, picking up every drop of color, every paint-covered footstep. Imagine the child, clad in a blank white dress, the canvas for each splash of worldly information, each taint in the brain of a pure being. The immortality of curiosity and love overtaken by the knowledge of a world with truths such as ours. The words spoken from the mouth as a routine as old as time and as young as inspiration takes place, born into the mind as sure as the ability for language. And the ties between the ease of before and the ease of the after, the beginning and the end of the point of no return, are made final and aloud. And with the completion of the transformation, a silent cry is released and life as we know it shudders to a stop. The dance comes to an end, the words cease, the player freezes. And the rain pounds, pours, and falls on. Indefinitely.

Proposal:

Spoon art is a invention that showed up in my head one day after eating yogurt. I was sitting multitasking with painting and eating yogurt. And instead of putting the spoon in the yogurt, I put it in paint. I wasn’t mad, more amused of what it did. I liked painting with it even more then a paintbrush.
I forgot of this technique for awhile until this art project came up in art class. I thought of all these other ways to put paint on paper. Finally I thought of spoon art. I was excited to start building the invention. I knew it wouldn’t take a long time though. It only consists of tape and 5 spoons (plastic or silver). Now that you have the spoon art invention you put paint on the spoons and fling it at canvas, or whatever you please.
This can be messy. I’m sure you’ll like your creation after flinging it at something. I’m sure you could use it for other things, like eating, throwing food at people, tea, playing an instrument, and anything else you can think of.
Spoon art reminds me of Edward Scissorhands or Freddy Kruger. Which means it look pretty cool in my point of view. Everyone can have spoon art!

Proposal:

For my original material distribution project I thought about the different

materials I could possibly use that were one use something that would not be expected to

be used to make art and two that would be unique and that I could demonstration. I‘ve

decided on one specific idea. For starters, the following materials will be used in order to

create my art piece:

- A large piece of white paper about 12ft by 4ft
- I decided to use only about 10 or 20 pairs of shoes instead of 100. (easier & less messy).
- Paint brush/ mixture of paint: ROY G BIV
- Shoe mat- to let the shoes dry while I’m demonstrating my project.
- Gallery/ video recording- which will be provided
- The artist – that’s me

I will lay out the piece of paper about as large as a normal sized chalk board on the floor

of the gallery. Then take the paintbrush and paint the bottom of both shoes in the pair.

Next, I will create an interesting path with the shoe prints and depending on the type of

shoe determines how the path will be made across the paper. And I have a variety of

different pairs of shoes- athletic, converses, flip flops, flats, sandals, dress shoes and etc.

I will continue this until the whole paper is filled. The challenge I came to face early

while brainstorming this idea was how to get all the shoes back and forth from home and

school and how I was going to clean the bottom of every shoe after my demonstration.

Other than that, I can’t wait to actually work in a gallery for the first time and have

something to show for it. This is my proposal to start constructing my original material

distribution out of shoe prints. My piece will be titled “ Take A Walk In My Shoes” .
